SNM2 Data Collection
SNM2 Data Collection
If you cannot identify the cause of an error from the output messages, you must collect diagnostic information about Storage Navigator Modular 2.
Data Collection
The following example assumes a default installation. Adjust these commands if you have installed the software somewhere else.
Windows
- cd C:\Program Files\HiCommand\Base\bin
- hcmdsgetlogs /dir NewDirectoryName [/type StorageNavigatorModular]
Linux or Solaris
- # /opt/HiCommand/Base/bin/hcmdsgetlogs -dir NewDirectoryName [-type StorageNavigatorModular]
Note:
/dir NewDirectoryName specifies the name of the directory that will store the JAR log files. The directory must not exist or it must be empty.
/type StorageNavigatorModular is an optional parameter. If this option is not specified, the command also collects diagnostic information about other HiCommand products that are installed.
After the command has finished, 4 JAR files are created. Upload these files to TUF. Please do not ZIP these 4 files together as one large ZIP. Often, GSC only need to look at one or two of these files - it makes our analysis quicker if we can just download the file(s) we need.
Here are examples of the command:
C:\Program Files\HiCommand\Base\bin>hcmdsgetlogs /dir snm2logs /type StorageNavigatorModular
/opt/Hicommand/Base/bin/hcmdsgetlogs -dir /tmp/snm2logs -type StorageNavigatorModular
Acquiring the Failure Log at the Time of Installation or Uninstallation
When a failure occurs in installation or uninstallation, acquire a log of the installer or uninstaller using the following procedure.
When the hcmdsgetlogs command is provided
Acquire the log using the procedure described above.
When the hcmdsgetlogs command is not provided or execution of the command fails
When a failure occurs in the middle of the installation or uninstallation, the hcmdsgetlogs command may be unable to be used. In this case, acquire the following files manually. (An asterisk ("*") in the file name indicates an optional character string. Acquire all files concerned.)
Windows:
C:\hcmds*
C:\snm2inst*
(When Windows is installed in a place other than the drive C, the files are created immediately under the root folder of the drive in which Windows is installed.)
Linux or Solaris:
/tmp/hcmds*
/tmp/snm2inst*
Comments
Please be patient, the log collection can take a long time. The following message will be issued at the end of the data collection:
KAPM05318-I The acquiring of logs successfully ended : StorageNavigatorModular CommonComponent
In the Windows example above, the output will be located in the following directory:
C:\Program Files\HiCommand\Base\bin\snm2logs
